Bluegrass Horse Feeds are delighted to introduce their newest member of their Brand Ambassador team, Olympic hopeful Dressage rider, Kate Dwyer. With a super busy year ahead as she prepares for team selection for Tokyo in July, we caught up with Kate to find out a little more about her and the super star Snowdon Faberge aka “Fabio”.
Kate, who is from Dunboyne in County Meath, was a member of the Dressage team that made history in Ireland, by qualifying, for the first time ever, an Irish Dressage team for the Olympic Games. Kate has always had a love for horses and her interest in Dressage started at a young age on her Connemara pony Macken. Her passion for the sport continued through her teens and she competed at the Young Rider European Championships in both 2003 and 2004. A highlight in Kate’s career was when the “girls in green” obtained that team slot for Tokyo.
“For me it is a fairytale story as Fabio was purchased as a 4yr old to make an ideal all round amateur horse. He is definitely our “diamond in the rough” and I never would have imagined that he would bring myself and my mother and trainer Maureen on this incredible journey. The story is all the more magical as Fabio is not your typical Dressage horse, he is part Shire!”
2020 is going to be a big year for both Kate and Fabio, we asked her how she plans to prepare for Tokyo; “Fabio knows his job and is confident in the competition atmosphere, I plan on focusing on my training to ensure we can achieve our optimum potential with more focus on International competition later in the Spring”.
“As a Dressage rider and Trainer I am very aware of the importance of a balanced diet for my horse, it is crucial for me that Fabio has the correct nutrients, vitamins and minerals for him to maximise his performance. I am very grateful for the expertise and guidance that the Bluegrass Team have made available to me. Bluegrass Re-Leve gives Fabio everything he needs to perform at his best whilst supporting his gut function and maintaining his weight”.
The Bluegrass Horse Feed team are excited to follow Kate and Fabio’s story, keep up to date with all the action on our website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
