Vickie Anderson is no stranger to the Bluegrass Horse Feed team after stepping in as a demo rider at the Geoff Billington masterclass event last year. Bluegrass are excited to welcome Vickie and her team of horses as a new brand ambassador, her passion and drive for the sport is clear to see, her horses always look great and making sure her horses has the proper nutrition is important to her.
Vickie started riding around the age of four and got that showjumping bug when riding her 13.2hh pony, Willow lord, “he was a machine at cross country and showjumping but hated dressage, I evented a little and did pony club when I was younger but we moved more into hunter trials and showjumping”.
2019 was a memorable year for Vickie winning the Grand Prix at Balmoral show, awarded Pro Am Winner at the Showjumpers awards, part of the national training bursary and competing in the Hickstead Speed Derby. The aim this year is to focus a little more on building the two younger horses she has in the yard and hopefully back to Hickstead with Zack to ride a little more competitively in the Speed Derby.
On top of her busy yard and competition calendar, Vicky also works full time at her family haulage business, “A” Transport Ltd and is a registered BHS coach. Her day starts off at 7am in the yard, riding and exercising all the horses in the morning, they all get turned out to the field for the day until she returns from work, finishing up the yard around 9pm.
Vickie explained, “Your horses can’t be expected to perform at their best if they aren’t supported correctly. Zack can be stressy when travelling or at shows, I feed Bluegrass Re-Leve because it gives me peace of mind that he is getting everything he needs to keep him balanced. If your horse is happy inside then he is happy on the outside”
