The Cheltenham Festival is amongst one of the most prestigious racing festivals of the year, and the 2022 festivities didn’t disappoint.
Customers of the County Tyrone based mill and manufacture of Bluegrass Horse Feed, had a successful 2022 Cheltenham Festival, with six winners in total, including three out of the four feature races at the festival. Henry De Bromhead’s unbeaten Honeysuckle defended her Champion Hurdle title under Rachael Blackmore, making it 15 runs and 15 wins. Bob Olinger also took a win in the Turners Novices Chase ridden by Rachael Blackmore. Henry went on to have a 1,2 in the Gold Cup were A Plus Tard under Rachael Blackmore just piped Minella Indo under Robbie Power to the post. Rachael Blackmore made double history by becoming the first female jockey to win the Gold Cup and the first jockey since 1997 to win the Champion Hurdle and Gold Cup in the same week.
Gavin Cromwell’s Flooring Porter also defended his title by winning the Paddy Powers Stayers Hurdle ridden by Danny Mullins.
Gordon Elliott had a bittersweet 1,2 in the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase, when Delta Work under Jack Kennedy edged out Tiger Roll under Davy Russell. Gordon Elliott’s Commander Of Fleet ridden by Shane Fitzgerald took the title for the Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle.
