The Blue Grass Irish Eventing Super League was established in 2007 with great success. The League affords the country’s most talented and up-and-coming horse and rider combinations the opportunity to compete across a series of high quality classes. The League consists of Open Intermediate and Advanced classes, at 5 events based at 3 leading Irish event venues. The developing combinations are able to raise their game through the series, as they move on to experience advanced dressage tests and showjumping tracks, and riders who compete at advanced level will receive double points.

The Super League encourages people to breed, train and compete their performance horses in Ireland rather than taking them abroad, as is often the case today. It raises the standard of events in the country, sets ever-increasing levels of difficulty for competitors to train and aspire to, and firmly places Ireland’s eventing industry at the centre of the world stage.

Sales Manager at Blue Grass Horse Feed, and one of the architects of the Super League, Declan Cullen, said he was immensely proud for Blue Grass to be the inaugural sponsors of these events, and believes that they will allow us in Ireland to become pro-active in the standard and presentation of our sport, rather than re-active. All in all 2008 should be a tremendous year for eventing and the wider Irish equestrian industry, as the crème de la crème of performance riders battle it out to become the Champion of a League that has become synonymous with success, talent and prestige in Ireland.
